In case you forgot, we are now 5 months away from the scheduled November conclusion of yet another massive film franchise. And the folks at Panem (I mean, Lionsgate) have just released a two-minute reminder that Katniss and Co. will soon be gracing the screen for the last time.
The first teaser trailer for ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2’ made its debut on 9 June 2015. And it gives us glimpses of Katniss rallying more to her cause (with a voiceover monologue by J Law), Finnick’s wedding and the climactic showdown in the Capitol. This will also be the late Philip Seymour Hoffman’s last film, and we get a shot of the actor as well.
The trailer also introduces new characters. And yes, that was Brienne of Tarth. Actress Gwendoline Christie will be hopping from Westeros to Panem to join Game of Thrones co-star Natalie Dormer/Margaery Tyrell/Cressida on the big screen. Christie will be playing Commander Lyme.
But of course, the one thing that’s making the next 5 months torturous is Finnick’s closing line: “Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the 76th Hunger Games.” And the last. Mark your calendars.
